Healing Complex Trauma Through Somatic Integration & Nervous System Care
Your body holds the story of your past, and sometimes that story shows up as anxiety, disconnection, overwhelm, or a nervous system that won't settle. Traditional talk therapy can only go so far when trauma lives in your body.
Somatic therapy works with your nervous system directly, helping you release what's been stuck, complete stress cylces, reclaim safety in your own body, and restore your natural capacity for connection and ease.

How Somatic Therapy Works
Bottom-Up Healing
Unlike traditional talk therapy that works from the mind down, somatic therapy works from the body up. We access and heal trauma where it lives: in your nervous system and physical body. This creates lasting change at the physiological level, not just cognitive understanding.
Nervous System First
We start by helping your nervous system find regulation and safety. When your body feels safe, deeper healing becomes possible. You'll learn to track sensations, recognize your activation states, and develop new responses to stress and triggers.
Integration, Not Just Coping
The goal isn't to manage symptoms forever. It's to integrate your experiences so they no longer control you. We work to discharge stored survival energy, resolve incomplete responses, and restore your body's natural capacity for healing and connection.
Paced and Resourced
Healing happens at the pace your nervous system can handle. We build resources and stability first, ensuring you feel grounded and present throughout the process. There's no pressure to revisit memories before you're ready.
Is This Right for You?
This work is for you if you've tried traditional therapy but still feel stuck, or if you notice that trauma shows up more in your body than in your thoughts.
You might benefit from somatic therapy if you experience:
- Anxiety, panic, or feeling constantly on edge
- Disconnection from your body or emotions
- Chronic pain or unexplained physical symptoms
- Hypervigilance or difficulty feeling safe
- Shutdown, numbness, or feeling "frozen"
- Difficulty with intimacy or relationships
- Perfectionism, people-pleasing, or loss of self
- Flashbacks, nightmares, or intrusive thoughts
- Deep knowing that something needs to change
Whether you're healing from a single traumatic event or a lifetime of accumulated stress and survival, somatic therapy offers a path forward that honors both your resilience and your pain.
Common Questions
What happens in a somatic therapy session?
Sessions blend gentle conversation with body awareness practices. You'll learn to notice sensations, track your nervous system states, and work with what arises in the moment. There's no forced re-telling of trauma stories. We follow what your body is ready to process.
How is this different from regular therapy?
Traditional therapy primarily works with thoughts and beliefs. Somatic therapy addresses the physiological patterns that keep you stuck: the tension, shutdown, or hyperarousal that lives in your body. It's especially effective for trauma that cognitive approaches haven't fully resolved.
Do I need to talk about my trauma?
Not necessarily. While some narrative exploration may be helpful, somatic therapy doesn't require detailed recounting of traumatic events. We work with what's present in your body right now, which often leads to resolution without re-traumatization.
How long does treatment take?
Healing is a process, not a destination. Some clients notice shifts within weeks, while deeper integration takes longer. Complex trauma typically requires ongoing work. We'll regularly check in about your progress and adjust our approach as needed.
Do you accept insurance?
I operate as a private pay practice and do not accept insurance directly. However, I can provide you with detailed superbills that you may submit to your insurance company for potential out-of-network reimbursement. Many clients find this gives them greater freedom in their therapeutic process.
